Derek works with organizations to help them increase effectiveness and achieve
targeted results by understanding and improving processes, involving people,
aligning systems and enabling leadership. His skill as a professional facilitator,
trainer and consultant, and years of experience in facilitating process improvement
and organizational change in the whole system of an organization combines with
his unique ability to work with people at all levels to provide insightful and
professional service.
In the last 25 years Derek has worked with organizations of all sizes across the
U.S. and in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan and South Africa to effect change
and establish continuous improvement practices. He has extensive experience in
working in the manufacturing, administrative and service parts of the business with
companies that include Ford, Visteon, Robert Bosch, Kraft, MTD, Dannon, ITT
Industries and a number of smaller organizations, in linking management goals to
the involvement of everyone in improvement activity and the achievement of
results.
In the last 13 years he has also worked as an Account Manager for The Kaizen
Institute of America. He was previously Vice President of Consulting for
Productivity Inc., coordinated the Participation Training Institute at Indiana
University and taught adult education at both the University of Cape Town and at
Indiana University.
Derek is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds an M.S. in Education and a
Ph.D. in Adult Education and Instructional Systems Technology. He has extensive
experience in designing learning material and events and facilitating learning,
development and conflict in both large and small groups and in interpersonal
relationships. He is currently focused on assisting leaders with the total system
approach to leading the lean transformation in their organizations.
Toni Davies has worked with Derek since 1988, when they were both at Productivity, and counts him among her first true mentors as well as colleagues in Kaizen.
